racqui and villi – new york wedding and day-after session – late january 2012

I was in New York recently, and while I was there, I had the pleasure of shooting a quaint little courthouse wedding. According to the bride, Racqui, this is exactly how she imagined her wedding to be like. “Im not a girly girl. I dont want a big ‘hollywood  wedding,’ I just want something where my parents and sisters are there, you know,  a quick ceremony, and then dinner afterwards.”  We shot at New York’s highline park (an old railway converted into an elevated park) for their “day-after” session, which also allowed me to think of creative ways to use lighting that was readily available, either from the park itself or **ahem** my phone… (why yes, I DID light them with my iphone camera for a handful of shots)

enjoy the pics!

James and Robyn’s Wedding – January 2012 – Austin, TX

I had the pleasure of photographing Robyn and James’ wedding in late January. I have known Robyn for quite a bit of time now, and when I met James for the first time, I could immediately tell that their personalities were a match for one another. They are both fun, very laid back, non traditional, and a pleasure to work with. The wedding and reception took place at Westover Church in Austin, Texas, and the amazing food was home made by some friends of theirs. One of the highlights of my night was being able to capture a couple of kids during their breakdance battle! I have a few pics down below. Its my first wedding of 2012, so you guys have a look!

2011 wrap up

2011 was a great year indeed. Looking back at some of my favorite moments throughout the year has made me realize how much I have grown as a photographer, as well as the fact that there is still much to learn. I had a great time shooting portraits for families, brides, weddings, and even pets. I am fortunate enough that I was given plenty of opportunities in 2011 to learn more about “the business”, to grow as a photographer, and to continually evolve my style, and it is to the people (and pets) that gave me these opportunities that I owe a tremendous amount of gratitude towards. Thank you!

i look forward to seeing what the new year brings!
